Dr. Seuss's birthday is coming up so I have planned out a whole week of things for us to do leading up to it! Links are attached to each thing we are doing followed by photos! :) We usually do our projects (read any books with them first), have snack & then watch a movie.
February 24
Project: oobleck slime
Snack: hop on popcorn
Printable: oobleck observations, oobleck experiment
Book: bartholomew and the oobleck

We added some green sparky glue to ours so it looked a little different. And they got smart with me & just stuck some slime on their observation photo instead of drawing something!

February 25
Project: one fish, two fish handprints
Snack: one fish, two fish
Printable: one fish, two fish goldfish printable
Book: one fish, two fish red fish blue fish

The snack was regular goldfish but our print outs wanted colored goldfish so that's what I got so they would go together and they could eat them when they were done.

Here are some of the print outs they did before eating their snack.

February 26
Project: apple stem activities, apple science (5 senses)
Snack: smushed apples up on top
Printable: ten apples up on top counting
Book: ten apples up on top

The first thing we did was eat snack. Then we did the apples up on top printable & then the apple tasting. After they were done tasting a small piece of each apple I cut them up into small squares for the stem project. Then they ate the apples.

I took some heavier red construction paper & put it in the printer & googled a sheet with 3 apples on it HERE & sized it (to 75%) so it would be small enough for my applesauce containers. I printed them & cut them out, labeled them & taped them on the applesauce.

I colored in the apples so they knew which we were doing.

February 27
Project: seuss-o
Printable: I can label sam I am
Book: green eggs & ham
Movie: green eggs & ham

I printed my cards on heavier red paper in black & white because I got cheap ink for our laser printer & it leaves lines & doesn't do the proper coloring, which is really annoying. So this looked so much better since my black works great!

We did 3 rounds of Seuss-O. Each round they all got the chance to win once. I took our rewards tubs & let them pick from a few of them for prizes. That got them even more excited! Once they were done they ate their m&ms.

Next we did our I Can Label Sam I Am print out. I had to print out the writing one because the cut out one I noticed had the arrows that were pointing to the body parts kind of off so it was hard to tell what they were pointing to. We all were a bit confused.

We did not do the vanilla pudding because I messed it up. Yup... I got distracted with the kids in the kitchen & poured in water instead of milk. I was so bummed! So I'm picking up another pudding mix to do for another day. We just ate the string cheese as the cat's hat instead.

February 28
Project: dr. seuss hat pencil cup craft
Snack: cat in the hat jello
Printable: Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss, Cat in the hat
Book: the cat in the hat
Movie: the cat and the hat (cartoon)

So, mine doesn't look as good since I was a little heavy on the glue, ha! But still turned out pretty nicely!

I, along with a few of the kids, haven't been feeling the best the past few days & since we had to skip the vanilla pudding green eggs I picked some more pudding up from the store & made that. The jello stuff required quite a long process so I decided to do the eggs & skip that for now. Not sure if I will still do it. The kids enjoyed something different from actual eggs that were green. Was perfect for snack as well.

We planned on different printables but I found these simple ones so we did a birthday cake, which I thought was fitting for tomorrow. Then, we did the cat in the hat. All we needed was red. And I realize my cat's hat has too many stripes. Oops!

March 1
Project: the lorax handprint
Snack: Lorax oranges
Printable: lorax maze
Book: look for the lorax
Movie: the lorax

Our paper was a little bright so you can't see as well but still turned out cute.

For snack we had Lorax oranges. I found a page of Lorax mustaches HERE and printed them on yellow paper & cut them out. We had google eyes so we used those & glued them all on with hot glue. This was the first thing we did. Then we let them sit while we did our projects & everything. Then they ate them last. We also used the extra mustaches to put on sticks for fake mustaches.

I thought these were too cute!

They did the mazes while each was waiting to do something. After we were done with everything we watched The Lorax.
March 2
Project: cat in the hat handprint
Snack: cat in the hat cookies
Book: cat in the hat
Movie: the cat in the hat (live)

Instead of oreos I did crackers since I had them. Also, I normally do something similar with nutella... wishing I had used that instead of the whipped cream. Still good though.

We had such a fun week doing all these projects & making fun snacks. A BIG Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!!
